This giant bearded iris is a victim of it's own success. It always collapses under the weight of it's flowers. Out it comes!!

Fireworks as seen from my back yard courtesy of the Memorial Cup hockey tournament. The Kitchener Rangers lost in the final this afternoon to Washington state. I was having fun screwing around with long exposure times.

I got bored yesterday and created a device that floods the entire root system of the much hated dandelion plant, making it very easy to remove them from the ground. As you can see, it works very well and the weeds will not come back. This makes so much more sense to me than poisoning our precious ground water....just so the bloody grass is green!!! I really hate pesticide season!

It ain't much....if it ain't Dutch.

In this very spot last year I had a mess of nicotiana. At the end of the season I shook out the seed pods, hoping for a reseed. This does not look like nicotiana. Can anybody tell me what it is?

Okay everybody....let's all post pictures of the Greenfield's fabulous waterfront!! I'll call this one "the boat is in the water 2008 ".

My dog and my truck!!

I mean really...would you mess with this animal? Left click...if you dare!!!

Honestly...this is the wackiest farm animal that I have ever met. Even Spike seems to be saying " what the heck ".
While we were visiting Spikes's mom we ran into Billy the dancing goat. You just have to see this to believe it. This goat is a veritable whirling dervish. Although on opposite sides of the fence, these two played their butts off!!

Christine also raises Pugs. Meet rufus, a real trouble maker, or so I'm told.
Another shot of Chloe and Jasmine....Spike comes from a fun loving family!
The schnauzer on the right is Spikes mom Jasmine and on the left is his sister Chloe. Jasmine was very interested in Spike as I'm sure she knew who he was.
This is a shot of the whelping area complete with German stainless steel cages, a full kitchen, central air and a fireplace. Wow, nice digs.
Last weekend Rob Greenfield accused me of having no life beyond my dog and my truck. What a load of hooey....aaaaand just to prove him wrong, I hopped into my beautiful truck, grabbed my fabulous dog and we drove to the kennel where Spike was born. Meet Chris Schneider. She owns the kennel and is a wonderful woman. Loves her dogs!! I would like to remind Rob that I also have my guitars, camera, sound stage, shop, gardens and scotch....what the hell else would a guy need!!!

The last in a series of wet flower shots, this one is my third favorite.

In keeping with that May flowers theme....I offer you my flowering almond bush. Discovered under a stand of wild rhubarb, I transplanted it and nursed it back to health. Gorgeous!!

I have some unusual tulips this year....made all the more beautiful by the rain.

Happy garden art...and my new muse.

Marsha Greenfield is retiring. After countless years helping the less fortunate among us, she is going to kick back at the lake and take it easy for awhile. To say this is well deserved would be an understatement! I offer these photographs as proof that she has not lost that rare and special spirit....kind of a fun loving benevolence that we all know and love. Freedom 55 indeed!!

The dye vats....kept at about 205 degrees F. You can tint plastic lenses just about any color you can imagine. Bausch & lomb g15 grey green takes 20 minutes. Next pair are going to be that wicked purple seen in the lower right corner!
Dr. Corey putting the finishing touches on my Ray Bans.
This is the machine that grinds the lenses to fit your frames. It's controlled by the computer that scans the shape of the frame and makes it the exact same shape. Very cool!
Okay kids...today's lesson is on how badly you get ripped off when you buy glasses. My friend Corey owns an optics lab and he made me 2 pair of glasses today. One normal pair and some new Ray Bans. Total cost to me including lab costs....$60.00. That's 2 pair people
!!! They are just plain lenses, no progressives or whatever....but that's inexpensive!!

An untouched photo of the maple monster from underneath the canopy. Left click on your mouse....if you dare!!

Sunday, May 4, 2008

My flowering almond bush is all set to go off....extreme beauty for three days of the year. I sometimes think gardeners have a touch of masochism.
I'm back....yeah!! Time for yet another update from the garden. My magnificent maple tree, in the last few days, has obscured my neighbor's ugly above ground pool. Love it.

I thought I had lost this picture of Rob Greenfield getting ready to perform the ballet
"Strawberries on ice". Thank goodness I found it!!
